Artist Statement

My work is grounded in a deep respect for God’s creation. I’m drawn to the order, variety, and quiet complexity found in animals and the environments that sustain them. Light, reflection, and the layered rhythms of nature often shape both my subject matter and approach.

The inspiration for my paintings comes from long observation of wildlife and the environments that allow them to move, rest, and behave without interruption. I paint animals as I encounter them — not as symbols, but as autonomous lives existing on their own terms. I’m drawn to moments of quiet intelligence, presence, and stillness — moments that often feel unexpectedly familiar.

Rather than trying to dramatize nature, I focus on translating what is already there: posture, attention, calm, and the subtle ways animals mirror aspects of ourselves without trying to.

Whether the subject is encountered along a coastline, in a forest, or in a human-adjacent space, each painting is rooted in respect for life as it exists — not as we imagine it should be.
