Watchful Eyes

I was drawn to this gorilla’s attention and focus — a sense of presence that doesn’t seek our engagement or recognition. This painting reflects a moment of autonomy, where the animal exists fully within its own inner world. She is watching, and you have to assume not necessarily approving! This made me smile, because it reminds me of what we as kids often called "the Mom look".
